Morris wanted to build on the success of their light vans and trucks (1-1.5 tonnes) so they introduced a range of heavy goods trucks in 1931. This model had a capacity of 4 tonnes. It is powered by a 4 cylinder 5132cc engine. An interesting feature of this vehicle is that the engine and front axle could be wheeled away from the chassis for servicing.

The English Morris Motors, which was very successful in the 1930s building cars and light vans, also wanted to build a position in the heavier segment. In 1931, the Morris Courier was introduced, a truck with a payload of 4 tons.

1990 saw the introduction of the (Y31-1) 1931 Morris Courier in the red livery of Kemp's Biscuits with the Weetabix version appearing in 1992.
